The Hybrid OR
As part of a four part vascular series mentioned a few posts ago, my co-worker and I created a video that featured a special hybrid operating room that allows multiple procedures in a variety of clinical specialties to take place all in one place. This room is full of cutting edge technology. I think the video turned out very nice, but the one piece my co-worker Brandon and I are proud of is the lighting of the subject.
Fortunately for us, the operating room had a lot of lights build in to help surgeons perform their surgeries. These lights can be moved, focused, or faded up or down. These lights allowed us to highlight technology behind the interview subject, yet have a definite separation between subject and background. Our interviewer was lit from the font with two led flat pannel lights tuned to the temperature of the room. We were able to achieve a nice falloff that gently wraps around the subjects face.
The purpose of this piece is to showcase the cutting edge technology of the Hybrid OR – hopefully it achieved that goal.
